Parenting Classes & Consultation

Frequently Asked Questions

Got Questions?  Call: 800.383.1790

Q: I'd like to get help but we are  busy,  childcare is hard and  I don't know how I'd have time for another appointment?

A:  I understand the reality of parenting.  That is why consultations and therapy are made to fit your schedule.   Evening and weekend availability is the norm and appointments can be made in my office, in the ease of your home or via the phone or internet.

Q: How do I know if you can really help me?

A: Finding the right therapist is about making sure there is a match both in expertise and in style. I am passionate about helping parents because I know first hand how challenging it can be and I have the education and skills to help you.  If after an initial consultation you find that I'm not the right match for you there will be no charge for your consultation and if you'd like I will provide you with referrals that may better suit your needs.

Q:  Can you help me with things other than parenting?

A: Absolutely.  For many of my clients, parenting issues are just the starting point.  I have a depth of experience in many areas including effective treatment for: anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, eating disorders, substance abuse, domestic violence, and adult survivors of childhood abuse.   For more information please give me a call and we'll decide together if I can meet your needs.

Q: Do you take credit cards?

A: Yes!  Also ask me about a package discount.

Q: Can we attend your classes or couples therapy  if we are not married?

A:  Yes!!  Many couples attend who are not married.  I encourage unmarried, cohabitating or same sex couples to attend.

Q. I already have a child are your classes only for new parents?

A:  My classes are often even more relevant to parents of second or additional children.  John Gottman’s research indicates that without this workshop, 67% of couples express a decrease in relationship satisfaction one year after the birth of the first child and that for most couples that satisfaction continues to decline with subsequent children.

Q: Can I come to the class  alone?

A:  Some of Baby Maven's classes are  most valuable when both partners  are present.  There are exceptions so  please contact your workshop leader to ask about your specific class and situation.

Q: Can I bring my children to the class?

A:  An infant  may attend and many locations have child care options.  In addition,   lactating mothers will be accommodated.

Q: Do we have to attend the whole class  or just the parts that address issues we are currently experiencing?

A:  It is recommended that each couple attend the class  in its entirety.  The information provided and the skills that are taught are intended to build upon one another.   Couples report that attending the whole workshop is extremely valuable.

Q. I want to take this workshop but I can’t afford it.  Are scholarships available?

A:    Baby Maven is committed to keeping the program affordable for all couples.  A limited number of scholarships are available for those who qualify.
